التعريف
The innate inclination toward Tawheed and Islam with which Allah created every human being. External influences — family, society, desires — may corrupt it, but it remains underneath, returning when the veils are lifted.
النطق: FIṬ-rah
الاشتقاق والجذر
From the root ف-ط-ر (f-ṭ-r), meaning 'to originate, to split open' — as a seed splits open. The fitrah is the original mould upon which the soul is shaped.
الاستخدام في القرآن
'So direct your face toward the religion, inclining to truth — the fitrah of Allah upon which He has created mankind.' (ar-Rūm 30:30)
الاستخدام في السنة
'Every newborn is born upon the fitrah; it is his parents who make him a Jew, Christian, or Magian.' (Bukhārī 1358, Muslim 2658)
التطبيق العملي
When inviting others to Islam, do not present it as a foreign imposition — present it as a return to what their soul already knows.
