The Second Principle — Knowing the Religion of Islam with Evidence

Islam is to submit to Allah with Tawheed, to comply with His obedience, and to free oneself from shirk and its people. Islam has three levels: Islam, Imān, and Ihsān — each with its pillars. • Islam has five pillars: shahādah, salāh, zakāh, ṣawm, ḥajj. • Imān has six pillars: belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and the divine decree (qadr) — its good and evil. • Ihsān has one pillar: 'to worship Allah as if you see Him; for if you do not see Him, He certainly sees you.' (Sahih Muslim)
