Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“A Muslim has six duties towards other Muslims: When you meet him, you should salute him; when he invites you, accept his invitation; when he asks for your advice, give it to him; when he sneezes and praises Allah, say May Allah have mercy on you; when he is ill, visit him; and when he dies follow his funeral.” Related by Muslim.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ حَقُّ اَلْمُسْلِمِ عَلَى اَلْمُسْلِمِ سِتٌّ: إِذَا لَقِيتَهُ فَسَلِّمْ عَلَيْهِ, وَإِذَا دَعَاكَ فَأَجِبْهُ, وَإِذَا اِسْتَنْصَحَكَ فَانْصَحْهُ, وَإِذَا عَطَسَ فَحَمِدَ اَللَّهَ فَسَمِّتْهُ 1‏ وَإِذَا مَرِضَ فَعُدْهُ, وَإِذَا مَاتَ فَاتْبَعْهُ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ 2‏ .‏‏1 ‏- كذا في" الأصل" بالسين المهملة، وهي كذلك في" الصحيح"، ووقع في" أ":" فشمته" بالشين المعجمة.‏‏2 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم (2162)‏ (5)‏، و"التسميت" بالسين المهملة، وأيضا بالمعجمة لغتان مشهورتان، وهو أن يقول للعاطس: يرحمك الله.‏ يعني: بعد قول العاطس: الحمد لله.‏

Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“Look at those who are lower than you (financially) but do not look at those who are higher than you, lest you belittle the favors Allah conferred upon you.” Agreed upon.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ انْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ, وَلَا تَنْظُرُوا إِلَى مَنْ هُوَ فَوْقَكُمْ, فَهُوَ أَجْدَرُ أَنْ لَا تَزْدَرُوا نِعْمَةَ اَللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ وهذا اللفظ رواية لمسلم (2963)‏ (9)‏، وأما اللفظ المتفق عليه، فهو قوله ‏-صلى الله عليه وسلم‏-:" إذا نظر أحدكم إلى من فضل عليه في المال والخلق، فلينظر إلى من هو أسفل منه ممن فضل عليه".‏ رواه البخاري (6490)‏، ومسلم (2963)‏ (8)‏ ولشرح الحديث انظر كتابي" ذم الدنيا" ص (17‏- 18)‏.‏

An-Nawwas bin Sam'an (RAA) narrated, ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about virtue and sin and he replied, “The essence of virtue is (manifested in) good morals (Akhlaq) whereas sinful conduct is that which turns in your heart (making you feel uncomfortable) and you dislike that it would be disclosed to other people.” Related by Muslim.

وَعَنْ اَلنَوَّاسِ بْنِ سَمْعَانَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-عَنْ اَلْبِرِّ وَالْإِثْمِ? فَقَالَ: { اَلْبِرُّ: حُسْنُ اَلْخُلُقِِ, وَالْإِثْمُ: مَا حَاكَ فِي صَدْرِكَ, وَكَرِهْتَ أَنْ يَطَّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ اَلنَّاسُ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم (2553)‏.‏

Ibn Mas’ud (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“When three of you get together in company, two of you must not talk privately while isolating the third, so as not to make him feel sad (that he is left out) till you mingle with other people (i.e. you are joined by others).” Agreed upon and the wording is from Muslim.

وَعَنْ اِبْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ إِذَا كُنْتُمْ ثَلَاثَةً, فَلَا يَتَنَاجَى اِثْنَانِ دُونَ اَلْآخَرِ, حَتَّى تَخْتَلِطُوا بِالنَّاسِ; مِنْ أَجْلِ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ يُحْزِنُهُ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُسْلِمٍ.‏ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (6290)‏، ومسلم (2184)‏، وليس عند مسلم لفظ" ذلك".‏

Ibn Umar (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“A man should not ask another man to get up from his place in order to take his seat. But you should make room for each other and spread out.” Agreed upon.

وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ ‏-رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ لَا يُقِيمُ اَلرَّجُلُ اَلرَّجُلَ مِنْ مَجْلِسِهِ, ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ فِيهِ, وَلَكِنْ تَفَسَّحُوا, وَتَوَسَّعُوا } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (6270)‏، ومسلم (2177)‏ (28)‏ واللفظ لمسلم.‏

Ibn Abbas (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“When one of you eats, he must not wipe his hand till he licks it, or gives it to someone else to lick (such as a wife, husband, etc.).” Agreed upon.

وَعَنْ اِبْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ‏-رَضِيَ اَللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا, فَلَا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ, حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا, أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.‏ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (5456)‏، ومسلم (2031)‏، وهو عند البخاري بدون لفظ: "طعاما" وفي رواية أخرى لمسلم" من الطعام".‏

Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“The young should salute the old, the one who is passing by should salute the one who is sitting, and the small group of people should salute the larger one.” Agreed upon.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ لِيُسَلِّمْ اَلصَّغِيرُ عَلَى اَلْكَبِيرِ, وَالْمَارُّ عَلَى اَلْقَاعِدِ, وَالْقَلِيلُ عَلَى اَلْكَثِيرِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ.‏ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه البخاري (6231 و 6234)‏، واللفظ الذي عزاه الحافظ للمتفق عليه إنما هو للبخاري، إذ ليس عند مسلم تسليم الصغير على الكبير، وانظر التعليق التالي.‏

In a version by Muslim, “And the one who is riding should salute the one who is walking.”

وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ: { وَالرَّاكِبُ عَلَى اَلْمَاشِي } 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- هذا الرواية التي عزاها الحافظ لمسلم (2160)‏ هي ‏-أيضا‏- للبخاري (6232 و 6233)‏، تمامه عنهما:"والماشي على القاعد، والقليل على الكثير"، فكان الأجدر بالحافظ ‏-رحمه الله‏- عزو الرواية الأولى للبخاري، والثانية للمتفق عليه.‏

Ali (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“When a group of people passes by, it is sufficient if one of them gives a salutation, and it is sufficient for those who are sitting that one of them replies.” Related by Ahmad and Al-Baihaqi.

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ ‏- رضى الله عنه ‏- قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ يُجْزِئُ عَنْ اَلْجَمَاعَةِ إِذَا مَرُّوا أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ أَحَدُهُمْ, وَيُجْزِئُ عَنْ اَلْجَمَاعَةِ أَنْ يَرُدَّ أَحَدُهُمْ } رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ, وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- حسن بشواهده رواه أبو داود (5210)‏، والبيهقي (9 / 49)‏.‏

Abu Hurairah (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said::

“Do not initiate the saluting of Jews and Christians (when you meet them), and if you meet any of them on the road, force him to go to the narrowest part of the road (i.e. do not give way for them to pass, but keep going). Related by Muslim.

وَعَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-{ لَا تَبْدَؤُوا اَلْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى بِالسَّلَامِ, وَإِذَا لَقَيْتُمُوهُمْ فِي طَرِيقٍ, فَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِهِ } أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ.‏ 1‏ .‏‏1 ‏- تقدم برقم (1310)‏، وقوله:" عنه" لا شك أن المراد به" علي بن أبي طالب" وذلك حسب ما يقتضيه السياق، وهو خطأ؛ لأن الحديث حديث أبي هريرة، وليس حديث علي، كما أن الأحاديث التالية تدل على صحة ذلك؛ إذا هي من رواية أبي هريرة ‏-رضي الله عنه‏-.‏
