English Translation
The Qur'an is the speech of Allah — His revealed, uncreated word. From Him it began and to Him it returns. He spoke it in truth, revealed it to His Messenger ﷺ, and the believers affirmed it as the truth.
Whoever says it is created has disbelieved.
Scholarly Commentary
Imam Ahmad endured the famous trial (mihnah) over this very issue, refusing to say the Qur'an is created — even under the lash. Ibn Qudamah preserved this Salaf position.
