English Translation
The foundations of the Sunnah with us are:
• Holding fast to what the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were upon.
• Taking them as one's example.
• Abandoning innovations — every innovation is misguidance.
• Leaving controversies and sitting with the people of desires.
• Leaving disputation, argumentation, and theological wrangling (al-jadl wa al-khusūmāt) in the religion.
The Sunnah with us are the narrations from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Sunnah explains the Qur'an, and they are the indicators of the Qur'an. There is no analogy in the Sunnah, nor are examples struck for it. It is not grasped by intellects or desires — rather, it is followed and one's desires are abandoned.
