Three categories
1) Allah alone is Creator/Sustainer (Rubūbiyyah). 2) Allah alone is worshipped (Ulūhiyyah) — through prayer, du‘ā', sacrifice. 3) Allah's names and attributes are unique to Him (al-Asmā' was-Ṣifāt).
Why it matters
Tawheed is what every prophet was sent to teach. Mixing it with shirk (associating partners) is the only sin Allah does not forgive if a person dies upon it (4:48).
